         <title><![CDATA[Dr. Tite Tienou Named Professor Emeritus]]></title>

<p><strong>Dr. Tite Ti&eacute;nou</strong> was named Professor Emeritus of Nyack  College and Alliance Theological Seminary, honoring his 25 years of meritorious  service to academia and his influence as a global church leader. The distinction  was publicly presented at a banquet held at Stony  Point Center in Stony Point, NY on August 28, 2008.</p>
<p>Dr. Ti&eacute;nou is senior vice  president of education, professor of theology of mission and academic dean at  Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois and has been a  member of Trinity&rsquo;s faculty since 1997.</p>
<p>Prior to his post at Trinity,  Ti&eacute;nou served as president and dean of the Facult&eacute; de Th&eacute;ologie Evang&eacute;lique de  l'Alliance in Abidjan, C&ocirc;te 'Ivoire West Africa, and taught for nine years at  Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS). He was the founding director and professor  of the Maranatha Institute in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, in addition to  being a pastor in the Central Church of the Christian Alliance Church.</p>
<p>His Doctor of Philosophy in intercultural  studies and the Master of Arts in missiology were earned at Fuller Theological  Seminary in Pasadena, CA, where he also received the Contextualization Award at  the School of World Mission in 1984. He earned the Ma&icirc;<a id="QuickMark 1" name="QuickMark 1"></a>trise  en Th&eacute;ologie at Facult&eacute; Libre de Th&eacute;ologie Evang&eacute;lique in Vaux-sur-Seine,  France.&nbsp; In 1971, the Nyack Honor  Society member graduated <em>cum laude</em> with a Bachelor of Science in  theology from Nyack College.</p>
<p>Ti&eacute;nou's areas of expertise  include missions, theology, and the church in Africa. He has been a member of  the African Studies Association since 1991 and the OMSC Study Group on Mission  Issues since 1985.</p>
<p>The author of numerous books  including, <em>The Theological Task of the Church in Africa</em> (African  Christian Press, 1990), published in both English and French, the new Professor  Emeritus has published articles in <em>Africa Journal of Evangelical Theology</em>, <em>Evangelical Review of Theology</em>, <em>Alliance Life</em>, and <em>Evangelical  Missions Quarterly.</em></p>
<p>Ti&eacute;nou served as the senior  mission scholar in residence at Overseas Ministries Study Center in New Haven,  CT and as a research fellow at Yale Divinity School from January to May 1990. A  former chairman and chairman emeritus for the International Council of  Accrediting Agencies (1989 to 1992), he was a member of the International  Advisory Council for Lausanne II in Manila from 1986 to 1989.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In the Nyack College/ATS community,  Dr. Ti&eacute;nou&rsquo;s influence has been profound. A faithful friend, scholar,  colleague, and seminary instructor, his impact on former ATS students and  fellow faculty has been an invaluable part of the seminary&rsquo;s DNA.</p>]]></description>

<div align="justify"><font size="3"><strong><img hspace="5" height="106" width="105" align="left" alt="" src="http://www.nyack.edu/images/user_upload/Elias_Dantas_1.JPG" /></strong></font><font size="3"><font size="3">Dr. Elias Dantas, a native of Brazil, grew up as one of 22 children in a nominally Catholic family gave his life to Jesus Christ as a teenager at an evangelistic meeting, which featured a Presbyterian youth choir. As he grew in his faith, he also struck up a romance with his wife, Amelia, who just happened to be from a strong Christian family.&nbsp; Dr. Dantas and Amelia have three adult sons, Eli, Tim and Andre. <img height="144" width="104" align="right" src="http://www.nyack.edu/images/user_upload/Elias 1.jpg" alt="" /><br />

Dr. Dantas' formal theological instruction includes a Bachelor of Theology; Master of Theology; Doctor of Missiology and Doctor of Philosophy in Intercultural Studies, completed in 2006 at Fuller Theological Seminary. His ministry experience includes teaching and administrative work at the university and seminary level in Brazil, USA, and other countries for the last 23 years, church planting, missionary work and pastoral ministry in Brazil, Canada and the United States.&nbsp; Before coming to Nyack, Dr. Dantas was the Pastor of Outreach at <a href="http://www.belairpres.org">Bel Air Presbyterian Church</a> (Los Angeles, CA). &nbsp;<br />

Dr. Dantas also serves as a member of the <a href="http://www.ethnic-america.net">National Board of the Ethnic America Network</a> operating out of the Billy Graham Center. The Network is a coalition of ministries encouraging and equipping local church bodies to share Christ's love with the growing ethnic communities in their area. <br />

</font></font><font size="3"><font size="3"><img hspace="5" height="119" width="104" align="left" alt="" src="http://www.nyack.edu/images/user_upload/Elias 2.jpg" /></font></font><font size="3"><font size="3">With a heart for global ministry, Dr. Dantas also travels extensively speaking for leaders of many denominations in countries such as Egypt, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Venezuela, Thailand, Belarus, and Moldova. Lastly, Dr. Dantas has written four theological books, translated 14 others into Portuguese, and is in the process of finishing two more books, one on leadership development, that is to be published in Brazil and other on the planting of multicultural churches in North America, in partnership with <a href="http://www.fuller.edu/provost/faculty/dbsearch/final_record.asp?id=87">Dr. Charles Van Engen</a>, to be published by Baker Books.<br />
