Sounds of Praise Tour - Home Concert

 Nyack College's Handbell Choir, Mixed Choral Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble perform music ranging from classical to contemporary.

Truth & I in Concert

Nyack College alumni, Alethea and Jordan Wilhelm, are the singer/songwriter duo, Truth & I.  Their love for classical, jazz, and folk music creates a fresh fusion of sound.

Truth & I's strong and distinct vocal lines are the driving force behind their music, which makes their songs catchy and easy to sing along to.

Bach’s Birthday Bash

J.S. Bach’s birthday (his 329th) will be celebrated by the School of Music, with performances of music by J.S. Bach, and his sons W.F. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and even his grandson Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach! Performers will include Dr. Marie Herseth Kenote (flute), Dr. Tammy Lum (piano), and Nyack College music students. “The aim and final reason of all music should be nothing else but the Glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit.” J.S. Bach.

Nyack College Chorale, under the direction of Professor Joel Jameson and student director, Jamal Sarikoki, will perform Requiem Mass in D minor (K. 626) by W.Al Mozart\.  Special guests: Laurelle Virola, soprano; Kate Wiswell, alto; Patrick Dennison, tenor; and Joel Jameson, bass.  Accompanied by chamber orchestra and organ.

Nyack College Trio in Residence
Wednesday, April 9th, 12:30 PM

Nyack College’s trio-in-residence with Professor Sungrai Sohn, violin; Dr. Chungsun Kim, cello; and Dr. Tammy Lum, piano performs trios by Tchaikovsky, Piazzolla and hymn arrangements.  Their CD, “Piano Trios: Parker, Rachimaninoff, Chaminade, Liljestrand & Piazzola” will be available for purchase at the concert.

Concerto Competition Concert

Wednesday, April 16th, 8:00 PM

The winner of the Nyack College Piano Concerto Competition will be the featured artist on this concert, performing the Chopin Concerto No. 2 in F Minor Op. 21, I. Maestoso (string chamber version).  The pianist will be accompanied by the String Orchestra and directed by Professor Sungrai Sohn.  Also on the program, “A Short Hour Unseen” by Robert Davidson and "Alceste" by C. W. Gluck

Established in 1968, the Wind Ensemble is comprised of students, faculty, and community musicians performing works for concert band under the direction of Dr. Glenn Koponen. Selections by the Nyack Handbell Choir, directed by Jennifer Scott, will also be performed.

Hudson River Pianofest

Friday and Saturday, June 13-14, 2014

Two days of master classes, workshops and performances in a nurturing environment at the idyllic Nyack College Rockland campus overlooking the Hudson River. Featured artists: the legendary concert pianist, Ann Schein; contemporary piano specialist, Christopher Oldfather and other top piano pedagogues.
